The Australian Psychological Society (APS) recommends the rate for psychological services of $300 for services lasting 46 – 60 minutes (2023 – 2024 financial year). Please refer to our list of fees below which are generally under the recommended rate.

Family Sessions

Family sessions include joint child and parent sessions and some two-parent sessions. If the fee applies to any of your future sessions, this will be discussed with you.

* If a client is eligible for Medicare rebates, you can claim a rebate for client-absent sessions (e.g., parent-only sessions) up to twice per calendar year. Client-absent Medicare claims contribute towards your total Medicare eligible psychology sessions. Therefore, if a GP refers a client granting 6 Medicare rebatable sessions, and 2 are used for parent-only sessions, there are 4 remaining for client-present sessions (i.e., individual and joint-family sessions).

Assessment Fees

A neuropsychology, neurodevelopmental, or educational assessment is a detailed and complex process. The assessment process typically includes most, if not all of the following:

– Intake session (interview)

– Collateral interview

– Testing

– Questionnaires

– File review (reading background and other provided documentation)

– A detailed Neuropsychological Report

– A feedback session (discussing results)

Fee: Depending on the referral questions or concerns, complexity of the case, and purpose of the assessment, the assessment cost with a detailed report ranges from $1,900 to $4,000+ in some cases.

The table below provides some fee estimates based on typical assessment costs.

Keep in mind that your psychologist, based on the information they collect during the intake session, may recommend the assessment scope be broader, narrower, or different to what you expected going in. Therefore, anything booked and discussed before your intake session is an estimate.

ServiceEstimate
Standard Neuropsychological Assessment (cognitive and academic testing)$2,450
Standard Child Autism Assessment$2,180
Standard Adult Autism Assessment$1,900
Short Adaptive Behaviour/Capacity Assessment (assessment add-on)$540

Assessment combinations (e.g., Autism + Educational + ADHD)Contact Us ^

* ADHD assessments can range from two to three stand-alone 50-minute appointments without a report all the way up to a full comprehensive neuropsychology assessment. One example which demonstrates this is when a differential diagnosis is required based on the concerns raised matching more than just ADHD (e.g., dysregulated attention, learning challenges, and autism characteristics can look similar).

^ There are many assessment combinations. Please contact us to discuss your needs so we can provide you with more specific information.
